After starting with fewer than five staff, BIRN Kosovo has since evolved into a comprehensive media organisation, employing journalists and editorial, administrative and technical staff in the production of high-quality investigative and analytical reporting. BIRN Kosovo now fields a team of 45 fulltime professionals as well as 16 local and international consultants that work in the development and implementation of on-going programmes. An independent, non-governmental organisation, BIRN Kosovo exists to provide momentum to the democratic transition process, promoting accountability, rule of law and policy reform.BIRN Kosovo’s approach is to combine its projects with those of the regional BIRN Network with a view to long-term sustainability of results and institutions. BIRN Kosovo in particular aims to serve as a watchdog of public institutions, monitoring the work of governing and public institutions and supporting their reform and their path towards meeting the criteria and standards of the European Union.In addition, through the production of quality and impartial TV debates and training of youth on argumentation and debating skills, BIRN aims to promote and encourage a culture of debate in Kosovo. Apart from monitoring courts and public services and doing election debates, to date, BIRN Kosovo produces 4 highly regarded investigative media products: two TV programs broadcast on public TV "Life in Kosovo" and "Justice in Kosovo", the only English newspaper in Kosovo "Prishtina Insight" and the fastest growing news portal in Albanian Gazetajnk.com.

I worked as a trainer in war reporting, post-conflict journalism, investigative reporting skills, setting up media regulative bodies in Lebanon, working with invited by MaharatFoundation, a media-developing NGO and Donbas Media Forum in East Ukraine.

"Jeta ne Kosove/Life in Kosova" is the most watched current affairs program in Kosova that is broadcast on prime time every Thursday at 20:20 on Kosova's public TV, RTK. Profiled in NEw York TImes, http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/30/world/europe/30iht-letter30.html?pagewanted=all "Life in Kosovo" is a groundbreaking program that tackles some of Kosovo’s most controversial subjects. This is a 8-min documentary about the program's history since it began first broadcasting in 2005 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W70C_rB1wHk&feature=player_embedded. In October 2012, Xharra won the Award for Better Understanding in South East Europe, awarded by the South East Europe Media Organisation, SEEMO, an affiliate of the International Press Institute, IPI.

KOSID is a Consortium of Kosovo’s leading CSOs, from think tanks to independent media organizations to organizations that work with local communities. All member organizations work toward Kosovo’s sustainable development. The idea was to come together under one umbrella and use the skills that each organization harbors individually, to be more efficient in raising important debates for Kosovo’s future.

I set up the IWPR office in Kosova and was the Kosova corespondent for Balcan Crisis Report. I published two highly regarded investigations: "Kosovo Sex Industry" http://groups.yahoo.com/group/balkanhr/message/4352 and "Kosovo's Wild West" http://iwpr.net/report-news/investigation-kosovos-wild-west were published under IWPR.

Was responsible for assisting the Newsgathering Planning team in coordinating work between different BBC Bureaus in the world, updating the BBC diary of events for planned news events that each bureau was covering and coordinating the requests of different BBC radio programs for BBC foreign correspondents placed in the field. In addition, I filed a radio report in the reputable BBC radio program "From Our Own Correspondent".

Was responsible for contacts between the KLA and the BBC, I was a fixer, local producer and translator for BBC special correspondents such Jeremy Bowen, Kate Adie, David Loyn and Ben Brown. I was a local producer and translator of Vaughan Smith when he filmed the only footage of Jashari compound battle in March 1998 when more than 50 people, mostly women and children were killed.
