CurrentAdvisor: Dr. Eric GerberField hockey is a sport that has been overlooked in analytical studies. We plan to spearhead the development of machine-learning model(s) that use data from field hockey matches to better inform decisions on the hockey field. We intend to use the model to both evaluate the factors that lead certain field hockey teams or players to perform better or worse throughout a season and predict player performance based on these factors. We will assess how players contribute to field hockey matches by investigating the significance of on-field events such as face-offs, goals scored, and assists, and we will assess the on-field value of the outcomes of each of these events.- Featured panelist at the Ohio State University 4th Sports Analytics Conference- Accepted for a poster presentation for the 2024 Carnegie Mellon Sports Analytics Conference
