As a nontraditional, first generation university graduate and United States citizen, I have spent my time carving my path through my undergraduate career to focus on uplifting the voices relegated to the waysides. Not only because it is the right thing to do, but because in doing so, I enrich my own understanding of the world and time here. During my last quarter at the University of Denver, I chose to focus my honor's thesis on how Spanish and English both work to relegate indigenous identities to the past, thus imposing the colonial structures into linguistic ideologies that center "modernity" and erase indigenous roots-a phenomenon far too common in Latine communities. Now that I have officially graduated, I am setting my sights to the legal world. My aim is to leverage my multilingual, cross cultural competent background along with my strong communication, problem-solving, critical analysis, and collaboration skills to gain entry into a law firm as a paralegal or a legal assistant. That, or secure a job with longevity where I can work with attorneys on a regular basis to better prepare myself for the whirlwind that is law school. Working in the hospitality industry has given me the sense of urgency and care that are fundamental to any collaborative setting while my foundational understanding of computer science has taught me the imperatives of minutiae. I am well articulated, tenacious, and synergetic. I am only as strong as the connections I choose to value and uphold.
