About Jennie Cooke

I am drawn to teaching to inspire in my students an appreciation for science and a love of learning. I endeavor to create a space where students are unafraid to ask questions and try new things by encouraging critical thinking skills and demonstrating that there are multiple ways to approach any problem. I develop creative lessons to facilitate correlations between our study and other facets of life and to provide opportunities for students to explore perspectives beyond their own. I employ competency-based learning to design hands-on activities that allow my students to collaborate, build problem-solving strategies, and communicate their findings - skills that are invaluable beyond the scope of science. As the fields of science and technology grow daily in the world around us, I hope to set strong foundations for students in these fields, motivating them to deeper understand the changing world around them regardless of their career paths.
