About Jeya Kumar
I have a diverse educational and professional background that spans multiple countries and industries. I completed my primary schooling in Malaysia before moving to Brunei for my secondary studies. After finishing my secondary education, I moved to the UK and completed a BSc in Mathematics and Computing.Upon graduation, I returned to Brunei and worked as a secondary school teacher for two years. I then pursued further education in Australia, where I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Education with a focus on Mathematics and Computer Studies. During this time, I also obtained certification in Computer Engineering - PC Service and Repair. Additionally, I volunteered at a secondary school while completing my course.After finishing my studies, I continued working in Brunei as a secondary teacher and network administrator. In 2003, I moved to the UAE and joined the Higher Colleges of Technology as a lecturer in Mathematics and team leader at Al Ain Women’s College. At HCT, I piloted the courses in ALEKS and trained other sister colleges to implement the program.While working at HCT, I also completed an MSc in Integrating Technology in the Classroom from Walden University in the US.My wife is also a teacher and works as an ESL/Primary class teacher at a school in Al Ain. I have three children - twin boys and a daughter. Kelvin has completed his undergraduate studies at Curtin Dubai and is currently pursuing his MBA while working as a student life office at Curtin Dubai. Melvin is studying Civil Engineering at Curtin, Perth, and our daughter is studying Physiotherapy at Gulf University in UAE.In 2018, I started a new position at Curtin Dubai as a Lecturer teaching Foundation Mathematics. For the past few years, I have also been teaching undergraduate Math courses for computer science (IT) and engineering.
