As our platform has evolved over the years, I have also adapted to tackle new challenges. I worked to guide our technical direction towards success as we began to rapidly grow. This meant shifting our strategy from serverless to containerization and breaking apart our features into microservices to better serve our geographically distributed team.Some of the things I did:Establish requirements and build solutions for cloud architectures. Inform decisions about design and implementation.Advocated for, and began the adoption of Golang within our platformAchievements:* Lead architectural design and implementation of a comprehensive migration to microservices, with 4 launched in just the past year* Provided technical mentorship for our backend team and enabled communication with a diverse group of stakeholders* Consultant for architectural decisions and design practices for all new services* Created tooling to adapt existing aws-cdk code to cdktf, saving hundreds of hours of dev time in error-prone reimplementation* Implemented a custom terraform provider to deploy and manage cockroachdb cloud clusters

My initial work at nordic centered around building out tooling, and building out the foundation for our nRFCloud platform. Our platform was built upon scalable and proven AWS serverless technologies (e.g. Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS) and largely written in Typescript / NodeJS. The work here positioned us for rapid growth in the years to come.* Architected and implemented cloud based FOTA (Firmware over the Air) update system capable of supporting millions of iot devices. * Conducted large scale code migration to a monorepo* Created optimized message storage mechanism with dynamodb

Worked in a fast-paced startup environment to deliver needed services with limited time and resources. Worked on developing test automation systems for FPGA boards within a server lab environment. I accomplished this by building a web management application to distribute build and test jobs to a fleet of machines. The system could automatically boot the machine by IPMI, flash an image to the FPGA, setup the test environment and run the tests, then process and return the results - all done remotely with no intervention.* Learned foundational linux and sysop skills (vi will always be better than emacs)• Wrote a test automation system for FPGA based servers.• Built and configured lab machines.
