- Led and supported human factors research projects focusing on data visualization and automation issues related to decision support systems in domains such as military intelligence analysis. - Studies focused on 1) the perception of different types of visualizations (e.g. hue, opacity, saturation, texture) to represent meta-information using a psychophysical approach (ratio production method), 2) the adequacy of animation, 2D and 3D representations of the movements of individuals on an interactive map application, and 3) the development and evaluation of visualizations for 3D displays.

- Performed human factors engineering and systems engineering functions in support of aviation and air traffic control system development and research projects such as the FAA’s Surface Trajectory Based Operations (STBO) project. - Tasks included the identification of external requirements for planned NextGen air traffic management systems, a gap analysis verifying that the necessary external requirements will be available when the systems will be implemented, the elicitation of user requirements, design and testing with end-users of an air traffic control tower touch screen graphical user interface (GUI) used to manage the number of aircraft waiting on the taxiways (queues), and a task analysis of commercial pilot surface operations.

- Managed a portfolio of technology transition internal research and development (IR&D) activities that focused on the development of human computer interface technologies that will help operators with their cognitive workload, situation awareness and information flow. - As a member of the Systems Safety and Human Factors Department, supported a variety of rotary wing (e.g. Marine One, K-MAX Unmanned Aircraft System [UAS]), fixed wing (e.g. A-10) and ground vehicular (e.g. JLTV) programs with different services of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). - Ensured that human factors and ergonomics design principles were considered throughout the system’s life cycle and that the design matched operator and maintainer needs. - Tasks included needs assessment, operational analysis, function analysis, function allocation, requirements analysis, verification of compliance with relevant standards and guidelines (e.g. Mil-Std-1472, Mil-Hdbk-46855), task analysis, prototyping, anthropometric analyses (e.g. reach, field-of-view, clearance, and egress analyses), digital human modeling, workload and situation awareness evaluations, trade studies, testing and report writing (e.g. Human Engineering Program Plan [HEPP], Human Engineering Design Approach Document-Operator [HEDAD-O], Human Engineering Design Approach Document-Maintainer [HEDAD-M]).
