Graduate Research AssistantGeorgia Institute Of Technology Aug 2016 - May 2021Greater Atlanta Area• Developed a process to make a double magnetic tunnel junction with a particle size of ~200nm(diameter) X 5nm(thickness) and lead widths of ~100nm. The device will be used to measure the effect of terbium-doping on the environmental coupling of the particle’s spin system.• Increased the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the bandwidth of low temperature tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) measurements in magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) by a factor of 6.62 and 3.87, respectively. Developed a process to fabricate magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using available equipment in the lab. Implemented cryogenic preamplification using SiGe HBTs during electron transport measurements. Integrated NI LabVIEW, function generators, a current amplifier, a transimpedance amplifier, and a highspeed oscilloscope into measurement process for data acquisition. Used MatLab and IGRO Pro for data analysis. Published results in AIP Journal of Applied Physics. https://doi.org/10.1063/1.5059326• Implemented exfoliation techniques originally used in graphene to separate flakes from a Potassium Rhodite crystal, then developed a process to apply leads to the flakes (micro/nanoscale) for electron transport measurements. Also trained an undergraduate researcher in the process who created usable samples as well.• Designed and built a heat shield, sample stage, and superconducting magnet for use on a cryogen-free 8K cryostat. Machined heat shield, sample stage, and magnet holder. Calculated and wound solenoid. Implemented proper heat syncing of the magnet power and sample signal wires to maintain the base temperature during operation. Created control system using NI LabVIEW to take data, control field, and monitor temperature during data collection.• Contributed to the first sub-Kelvin DC measurements of SiGe HBTs by implementing a sample mounting technique to allow removal of the device under test without damaging it or the sample mount, but still strong enough to allow for wire-bonding. -
Graduate Teaching AssistantGeorgia Institute Of Technology Aug 2015 - May 2021Greater Atlanta Area• Electro & Magnetostatics: Graded homework and tests and held office hours for 31 students. Created solution keys for homework and tests and released them to students for study purposes.• Intro Physics I (online): Led web-based recitations for two or three groups of 4-6 students and graded live, web-based presentations. Collaborated with other GTAs to grade tests and finals with consistency between students. • Intro Physics I (Lab TA): Presented short lectures to introduce necessary physics to complete each lab and helped students as needed to progress through the lab. Troubleshooted lab equipment when necessary. Up to two, three-hour, weekly labs consisting of 25-30 students and an undergraduate teaching assistant for each lab. Collaborated with other GTAs to grade tests and finals with consistency between students.• Intro Physics I (Recitation TA): Presented short lectures on relevant concepts and helped students work through a recitation worksheet covering these concepts. Graded recitation worksheets. Up to six, one-hour, weekly recitations of 20-25 students. Collaborated with other GTAs to grade tests and finals with consistency between students.• Physics Walk-In Tutoring: Tutored students in Intro Physics I on a walk-in basis. Replaced Labs or Recitation assignments hour-for-hour. -
