• Put my theoretical/classroom physics concepts to practical use working at Thorlabs during the summer of 2021• Operated magnetorheological finishing (MRF) machines to finish the polishing of high precision lenses• Documented the functionality of the MRF machines into an easy to reference file that could be used by other team members to decrease the time needed for them to train on the MRF control panel• Learned the proper handling and cleaning of precision optical components• Learned the metrology required to measure and qualify precision components• Inspected all work before passing on to the next operations and/or to inventory• Complied with safety regulations and maintained clean and orderly work areas
