6Th Grade Educator
CurrentThirteen years of experience as a 6th grade teacher inside the classroom in both an elementary and a middle school environment. I've taught all core subjects, recently specializing in math, but I still have a strong passion for social studies and make sure it's part of our math classroom as well. Building strong relationships with my students has always been a core value as we all learn better when we are respected and feel safe to share ideas. I have served on two district curriculum renewal teams (math and social studies) where we conducted a SWOT analysis on our curriculums, studied newly adapted standards, selected curriculum, and successfully implemented it with our grade level teams. Like many other educators, we made the switch to fully virtual learning in March 2020, then hybrid learning 2021. I became very proficient at teaching virtually and in person simultaneously by utilizing technologies like: Zoom, Google Meet, Canvas LMS, Jam Boards, Nearpods, and Desmos. Passing along the passion for teaching, I've worked with our INSIGHT program at Pewaukee High School to mentor high school students who are exploring the field of education. I have also led professional development sessions, training teachers on new technology and integration strategies.
