Engineer & release manager on $15m engagement at Vero (part of https://www.suncorp.com.au, the second largest insurance group in Australia) to build a product that allows insurance brokers to purchase, renew, and cancel insurance policies online.Confronted on commencement with a project in chaos. Multiple development teams at Vero working independently failed to integrate; no unit tests hampered forecasting and planning for delivery, work processes were significantly flawed, design lacked strategic vision, and UAT / production environments were untouched & untested.Immediately embarked on rescue mission to embed consistency & automation into processes governing app development & developer deployment, and created a continuous integration framework that automated new source code builds, testing, and deployment without developer intervention.→ Results were virtually immediate delivering a 20% productivity improvement from Web/BizTalk Developers, and 10% time saving daily for up to 20 developers. In process improvements alone, productivity increases reduced need for 3 full-time staff, and delivered an estimated saving of $1M.→ Delivered on time and on budget – the first time the project had been on-track since inception.→ Spearheaded development of a $2M infrastructure project to create and configure physical infrastructure required to test and run the product. Within a month of deadline, completed implementation, configuration and documentation of platform across three diverse environments.→ Created a release-management framework that delivered substantial timesavings through improved quality and standardization. My work spanned project and release management, business process redesign, client relationship management, team supervision, application development and more.→ Architected and project-managed an automated build and deployment solution employing continuous integration that allowed multiple vendors to deploy updated code to multiple environments.
