At Como Engineers I was provided with a valuable opportunity to take part in a wide range of electrical engineering work in the mining industry. I supported the electrical team primarily by drafting electrical drawings and completing electrical documentation. Often I was tasked to study related standards or documentation and present summaries for the rest of the electrical team. As an electrical engi­neering student I was able to take part in the design process. My experience as an electrical apprentice and trades assistant at Ravin Services enabled me to bet­ter understand their design methodology and product operation and meant I had previous experience with many of the relevant standards.Through the duration of my internship, Como Engineers was working with multiple clients in the mining industry on projects such as modular elution circuits with gold rooms, modular alluvial gold plants and modular CIP plants. For these projects the electrical team produced power and instrumentation designs according to the re­quirements of the process and mechanical designs. As part of this the designs had to incorporate on-site requirements including power management systems, maxi­mum demand limitations and alternate or multiple supplies.
