Professional with experience in the public sector, academia, and international organizations. As a consultant in innovation and bioeconomy, he has collaborated with the National Planning Department of Colombia (DNP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). His career includes the execution of biotechnology projects funded by international donors such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA).In his role as an advisor to the Office of the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation of Colombia, he led the coordination of institutional planning and the implementation of the Bioeconomy Mission. Juan Fernando, a biologist with a Master’s degree in Science-Biotechnology, is pursuing a postgraduate Diploma in State, Public Policy, and Development. He has been recognized as one of the young Latin American leaders in biotechnology by Allbiotech.He is currently serving as a Specialist in Science, Technology, and Innovation at IICA, the specialized agriculture agency of the Inter-American System.
