Aircrew aboard DA-62, operating hyperspectral survey cameras.We use imaging in the VNIR & SWIR bands to monitor the health of trees in proximity to railway lines as part of a nationwide contract with National Rail.My role is to operate the cameras & survey ststems as well as manage the data collected whilst airborne.I'm also continuing my previous role as an Observer where necessary.

Aircrew aboard PA-31 Navajo (Approx. 300hrs) and DA-62 (Approx. 100hrs). Performing aerial survey work across England, Scotland and Wales. My role was to prevent collisions and conflicts with local air traffic whilst survey taskings were underway. Typically this was done both visually, using PilotAware, TAS (only on the DA-62) and by listening in to local comms. I performed my role from the co-pilots seat and so I would also try to reduce the pilot's workload by carrying out fuel checks and operating the navigation systems (G1000 and GTN 650) as well as monitoring the instruments for issues, the weather radar (only on DA-62) and any local restrictions for the area we were flying in(via SkyDemon).The most notable flights I did with 2Excel were flying over London, the Hebrides & Snowdonia. I gained invaluable first-hand experience with a number of situations including bird-strikes, mechanical/avionic failures, flying in and around poor weather (strong winds, thunderstorms & IMC) as well as operating under complex restrictions in busy airspace.
