Jeff Fromknecht is Counsel in Dentons Cohen & Grigsby Pittsburg, PA and Naples, FL offices and a member of the Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Organization and Political Law Practice Groups. His dual licensure in Pennsylvania and Florida enables him to offer his expertise to nonprofit organizations in both states, ensuring that his clients receive the best possible legal support for their specific needs. He holds graduate degrees in both social work and law and has over 20 years of experience working at nonprofit organizations in a variety of direct-service and administrative roles. He is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania, Florida, and before the United States Tax Court. His clients include a variety of tax-exempt entities, including universities, health and human service providers, scholarship funds, corporate foundations, private foundations, social welfare organizations, and political action committees. Jeff’s work focuses on assisting these clients to understand and navigate the corporate, tax, and compliance issues impacting their work, this includes nonprofit mergers and affiliation agreements, fiscal sponsorship issues, dissolutions, charitable solicitation registration and compliance, governance questions, establishment and registration of political action committees and corporate reorganizations and restructuring. He also works with founders and start-up projects to help them get incorporated, establish a Board and bylaws, and apply for tax-exempt status.In addition to his work at Denton's, he is the co-founder and CEO of Side Project Inc. an organization dedicated to incubating sustainable projects focused on social change, and the lead attorney for its Lawyers for Nonprofits project, a legal aid program that provides low and pro bono legal services to small and start-up nonprofit organizations. Through this work at Side Project, Jeff is also a Field Instructor with the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work and an Externship Site Supervisor for the Duquesne University School of Law.
