As GIS Specialist for the Northern Tornadoes Project & Northern Hail Project (via Western Libraries Map and Data Centre), I am integral in helping my GIS colleague correctly store, catalogue, and maintain massive amounts of information and data from the Project's aerial, drone, satellite, and ground surveys. I also assist in maintaining geospatial datasets, delivers workshops, and consults with academics within Western University’s network. Jordan’s work on NTP focuses around creating the orthomosaics for satellite, drone, and aerial imagery, building Event Summary Map App’s and RadarScope Viewers, archiving and preservation of NTP data, and helping my GIS colleague maintain the Open Data Site – which is integral in connecting the project with the general public.

During my time in this role, I reported to the Regulations Coordinator and worked closely with theRegulations Officer, Planner and Planning Ecologist. I undertook avariety of administrative duties pertaining to natural hazard planning and ConservationAuthority regulation applications. The Assistant will provide front-line, customer servicesupport for the planning and regulations department, including; responding to all inquiresrelated to SCRCA’s land use planning and regulatory responsibilities, answeringquestions from the public, providing administrative support and research, disseminatinggeneral department information to the public, receiving applications and technical reports,preparing files for review by planning and regulations staff, and maintaining existing hardcopy and electronic file management systems.In addition to the above, I utilized the GIS programs and databases deployed SCRCA to guide and enhance various levels of the planning and regulations application process.

During my time in this role, I reviewed and compiled lists of historic documents to be entered into the database and document management system. I reviewed, in detail, all records in the Case manager Database and ensured correctness and completeness of all data entry. I also investigated file duplication to maximize server storage of department files. I also assisted the planning and regulations department case file screening via document search and retrieval.In addition to the above, I did quality control checks with the GIS programs and databases deployed SCRCA to ensure data management within the GIS environments are as clean as possible.

While working in the CEKAP intern roll at the City of London in the Environmental Programs division. CEKAP is the Community Energy Knowledge - Action Partnership, a partnership of Canadian universities, local and regional governance partners, and civil society organizations with a shared interest in the successful implantation of community energy plans. CEKAP strives towards communities that are not only energy sustainable, but also prosperous, equitable, and resilient.My role as the CEKAP intern at the City of London is to help draft and develop an Electric Vehicle Mobility Strategy for the City to incorporate into the new CEAP.
