My activities included diversity creation, library construction, gene design and synthesis, and screen management.

Precision Genome Engineering is a startup biotechnology company dedicated to creating next generation of tools for editing genomes for bioindustrial and gene therapy applications. I am currently engineering homing endonucleases to adopt novel recognition sequences for use in gene therapy using a yeast surface display technology developed at Seattle Children's Research Institute. Generally, I design and express libraries of variant nucleases and select active enzymes through fluorescence activated cell sorting.

Icogenex is focusing on research and development in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. I assisted in designing and implementing assays and screens for therapeutic molecules for Huntington's Disease and Alzheimer's disease. Duties required fluorescent assay development and validation, enzyme expression/purification for scale-up in support of screening efforts and SAR studies on hit molecules.

PhD student in the laboratory of Julian Simon. Worked in the field of proteomics, protein-protein interactions and anticancer therapeutic R&D. Dissertation title: The Dynamic Interactome: Investigation of Ligand-dependent HSP90 Complexes. I independently designed and executed a series of semi-quantitative proteomic experiments to identify proteome wide effects of native nucleotide ligands and chemotherapeutic compounds on the HSP90 interactome. This study required extensive optimization of conditions for purifying native HSP90 complexes as well as management of large datasets and large-scale culture of human cell lines. This work was published in the high tier journal Molecular and Cellular Proteomics.

I assisted in characterizing the tumor suppressor genes Egr1 and cx43 using cDNA microarrays and cell assays. Identified novel oncogenic activities of Aurora kinase using immunocytochemistry and inducible expression systems.
