After retiring from his first career mowing lawns up the street from his house while in middle school, JG worked summers throughout high school and college coaching swimming. After a brief college career serving as a friend of Aubie at Auburn, he began his recruiting career with a focus in Technology and Telecommunications recruiting. JG served as a recruiter for information technology professionals, and later served as a recruiting trainer and helped telecommunications companies by providing people solution services throughout the state of Alabama. JG joined ITAC in its second year in 2002, and later becoming an executive in the business. His previous roles have included, Vice President of Market Development, Facility Security Officer (FSO), Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Planning, VP of Recruiting, and Director of Technology Services.JG loves helping solve people problems for companies and helping people in their careers by finding new jobs. His work at ITAC is similar to that of a Swiss army knife; he finds many ways to be of service, including back-office management of IT systems, supporting all offices in a market health capacity, resident chef for events, and horticulturalist extraordinaire. At the end of the day, though, his main focus remains working with companies to help provide people solutions. Building relationships and helping people and companies really checks off his life purpose box and is why he’s been in this industry so long. The core values and people at ITAC are why he’s continued to do it here, and love it all the while.JG is busy loving life in Birmingham with his wife Elizabeth; children Catherine, Emory, and Lucy, and four-legged friends, George, Auqa, Tina, and Poppy. Fulfilling a passion and life purpose of helping in the home and the community, coaching youth sports since high school, and extending that to all his kids’ teams has been a great joy and opportunity to give back for JG, as well as being involved in the community as an advisory board member for the Vestavia High School Career and Technical Education, TechBirmingham, and TechBridge. Outside of work, JG really enjoys getting out fishing, simply fixing stuff or improving anything he can get his hands on, and cooking on the pro chili circuit with the Spice Boys.Any hidden talents or hobbies?Working on old vehicles, vintage RV’s and watercraft. What’s your favorite quote?I had a firework burn a small hole in my shirt a few years back. Emory, about 8 at the time said, “Dad, that’s not a hole. That’s a memory.”
