Assists with the provision of rehabilitation services to patients under the direct supervision of a Supervising Physical or Occupational Therapist designated by the client facility, in accordance with state regulations. Essential Functions:• Transports patients to and from therapy area and assists therapists as directed to prepare patients for assessments and treatments.• Assists with the transfer activities and lifting of patients and the use of mechanical lifts when indicated and as directed by the Supervising Therapist.• Assists with the placement and removal of appliances and splints as directed by the Supervising Therapist.• Assists the Supervising Therapist to conduct both individual and group treatment as outlined in treatment plan in the areas of ADL, functional mobility, ROM, strength, coordination, cognitive/perceptual remediation and functional maintenance.• Maintains department equipment by cleaning, disinfecting, maintaining orderly condition and reporting defective equipment.• Maintains inventory of department equipment and supplies.• Participates in patient, family and staff education.• Confers formally and informally with other team members in coordinating the total rehabilitation program for the patient.• Responsible for reporting on the condition of patient/client to the appropriate supervisor and other staff members. Coordinate and assist with care as directed.• Clinical knowledge and skill, or ability to develop knowledge and skills required for evaluation and treatment of pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patient populations.• Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the policies and procedures of local, state, and federal guidelines; and the policies of the facility requesting the services.• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds/meetings and in-services as needed.

A Health Technician/Medical Assistant at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center will be responsible to provide nursing care to veterans. The incumbent is responsible for performing more complex personal patient care duties, supporting diagnostic procedures, technical nursing treatments, patient charting, and patient instructions which involve direct work relationships with patients and participation as a member of the nursing care team in direct services to patients. Observing and reporting any minor changes in the client or patient’s mental, or physical situation or emotional condition to a Nurse in a well-timed manner. Provide quality resident care to geriatric and disabled individuals as specified on individualized resident care plan and assignment sheets according to established policies, procedures, and objectives of the ECC. Under the supervision of the Nurse, provide assistance with the activities of daily living, physical comfort, and emotional and social support to the resident.
