About Dr Jo Taylor Frsa

I am a Teach First Ambassador ('10), Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the proud founder of a handful of charities, social enterprises and projects.My professional focus is on tackling social inequality, mostly through applying psychology to education and social change.In 2015, I was recognised as a Queen's Young Leader: a global award from HM Elizabeth II for social change (received >3000 applications from across 35 countries).     I co-founded Tinderbox to re-imagine the way teachers plan lessons. The vision was to connect teachers to outstanding lessons, in schemes of work, with links to relevant pedagogy. The intended impact was to allow teachers to spend their time focussing on differentiating lessons, accessing relevant research and pedagogy and facilitating learning.In 2013 Tinderbox partnered with London Knowledge Lab and Institute of Education to create a process to distill best practice and disseminate across classroom teachers. Outputs:- A digital platform, sharing SOW's hyperlinked to pedagogy, activities and resources.- A process for collecting best practice and distilling it into a form which can be easily used by teachers in their day to day work.- Science lessons from outstanding practitioners, accompanied by teaching narrative & resources.- Data from a successful proof of concept in 7 schools.
