Profile bio

About Jason Gonsalves

I am a graduate student at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories pursuing my M.Sc. in Marine Science. I have a strong academic background in physical oceanography, and have focused primarily on environmental policy/planning, technical writing, and science communication in my professional development. My career interests lie in developing the intersection between the application of science and building climate-resilient communities, including the translation of data into information stakeholders can engage with. I have held roles in both scientific research and environmental policy/planning, working with a diverse group of stakeholders like local agriculture and tribal communities to develop sustainable measures that benefit fragile ecosystems and the people that engage with them. To date, I have worked with groups at the local, state, and federal level on solving complex environmental challenges, and I hope to continue engaging with science through this perspective. Some additional hard skills I have include working in Python with its various scientific packages, and ArcGIS Pro's spatial analysis toolkits. You can contact me directly at jason.t.gonsalves@sjsu.edu.
