As part of the Microsoft Trustworthy Computing Compliance group I was responsible for the creation and support of the Privacy, Accessibility, Geopolitical, Online Trust and Safety corporate policies and standards across the company. As Director I lead the a team of individuals creating tools, online trainings and deployment strategies to support product teams and internal communities to deploy and evangelize the adoption of corporate policies and standards.

I served as the main technical liaison between Microsoft Legal and Corporate Affairs group and the Department of Justice Technical oversight committee. In this role I would "Translate" engineering requirements and limitations to our lawyers. I would then take legal decisions and translate and create action plans to comply with the rulings of the court and the requests of the Technical Committee. As owner of the Microsoft API and Protocol policy I was responsible for the clear articulation of the documentation requirements to the Windows, Office, SQL, SharePoint and Exchange product teams.

As part of the Engineering Excellence team I authored the curriculum used to train all levels of Program Managers. This included company wide requirements gathering and extensive research and prototyping to ensure we captured a Microsoft wide acceptable curriculum.I authored 22 individual training programs that were either instructor lead classroom trainings or online just in time classes. This model was copied by the Developer and Tester disciplines with great success.Over time by team grew to 7 individuals all with technical and Learning and Development backgrounds.

I was a Product Unit Manager in the Home and Entertainment Devices group working specifically on the Microsoft Works and Works suite of software. I managed a team of approximately 35 Program Managers, Marketing Specialists,Developers and Product testers. During my time on the team we successfully release Microsoft Works 7.0 and Works Suite version 4.This role required extensive executive interaction and exposed me to the "Business" side of Microsoft which ended serving me well as I increased the scope of my Microsoft Career.

My first job at Microsoft gave me the unique opportunity to create the first unified build lab inside the company. This approach allowed all Office Suite applications to be tested as a suite of products instead of individual applications. Testing productive was greatly increased and integration bugs begin to be found and corrected.I was asked to take on the additional role of working with customers to lower the barrier to entry for new versions of office. Lowering these barriers often required me to advocate feature requests such as Performance, Footprint, etc. This advocacy was a good primer for my later career inside the company.
