I manage a large group of cross-functional Software Engineers. My primary love is to help new developers find their bearings and passions, and to help them integrate productively into potentially any development team. As such, I believe there is great value in a shared Engineering vision and standard coding practices across the entire company, and am making efforts to teach and coordinate this information broadly.I am also involved in hiring new developers. I work with recruitment and HR teams to interview, code test and generate offers to potential candidates. I strive to streamline our hiring process as well as our onboarding processes, to make the experience more effective for interviewers, and more pleasing to candidates as well. I have experience interviewing Software Engineers for different positions - not just front- or back-end roles, but also DevOps, SecOps, IT Support, etc.A lesson I learned early in my career from both good and bad managers, is that the most important thing a good manager can do is to be available and present with their teammates. Some developers are more independent, only occasionally seeking guidance, whereas others thrive with a pragmatic soundboard to bounce ideas off. Regardless, everyone gets the same level of respect and honesty. At the end of the day, I see my success as my team's success - I want to see everyone thrive at the level where they are. For ongoing professional development, I actively seek to pull my team members out of their comfort zones and into mentorship relationships with Senior Developers and Architects to help broaden their experience.

A Software Developer at Phreesia works in multi-functional groups alongside dedicated Product Managers, automation QA, and software Architects to complete sprint work per Agile methodologies. I gained strong experience in my role, using C#/.NET frameworks, Microservices, Infrastructure as Code, and general Cloud Product development best-practices. Scalability is always important, and we've adopted a focus on a distributed, message-based architecture.I participated across several different product teams, to help build and scale our healthcare platforms. Our SaaS platform integrates with our many industry partners via REST APIs, ODBC connections, or standard healthcare formats such as HL7 FHIR, and I've gained an appreciation for the many caveats to securely transfer data. Protecting sensitive patient data (PHI) is of the utmost importance, and everything a developer does is underscored by being a good steward of it. Besides simply following good design patterns and using up-to-date technologies and frameworks, we also adhere to strict code reviews, third-party audits and security assessments, and overall HIPAA compliance.As team lead, my responsibilities were expanded to also take ownership over which code is merged to Production, as well as documenting and training our deployment teams on configuration updates and other upgrade concerns generated by the changes. I would also become much more involved in ticket grooming and investigation before a sprint, and helped set technical requirements for bugfixes and new features.

The healthcare world needs technology that just works. Leveraging existing Practice Management software and Electronic Health Record systems, Phreesia's user-friendly dashboard seamlessly handles the many moving parts of patient health data, demographics, insurance Eligibility & Benefits checks, appointment scheduling and more.I was responsible for implementing the software interfaces required to integrate Phreesia into a medical practice's existing environment. This involved seeing a project through the sales hand-off into the build process and onward to a successful go-live. I often worked with teams from medical practices, 3rd party vendors, hosting solutions and direct Phreesia partners - and knowing how and what to communicate with those teams during the technical implementation was critical to the timeline and success of all projects.The technical aspects of my role entailed customizing XSLT markup and SQL stored procedures within Phreesia to fit the customer's agreed-upon requirements. During project go-live, our Implementation field team would visit, support, and train our clients - and as the content expert for the deployment, I would advise and assist remotely. Together, we worked closely with all levels of a medical practice - from front desk staff to physicians to the medical practice's IT support staff - to build a patient intake solution that works for everyone.

Building the customer experience from the ground up! I managed corporate accounts that used the company's lead-capture tools to instantly save and analyze data in real-time. These custom configurable tools included pre-loaded software on devices getting shipped to popular events across North America, and public-facing websites.I was responsible for liaising between clients and the company, seeking out and setting up success for both parties. I would work alongside existing clients to instill best-practices and to help them maximize their use and satisfaction of the product. I also performed acceptance testing of new features as it was built by the Development team before releasing it to the client and subsequently training them. With a deep understanding of the company's products and their technical underpinnings, I was also able to act as a content specialist and lend technical advice to the Sales team, joining them during prospective client discovery calls. I was often called upon to give live demos of specific features or comprehensive end-to-end solutions for event-driven marketing clients.

I was a full-stack web developer, using AngularJS, Laravel PHP, and relational databases like MySQL and Postgres. My responsibilities included using continuous integration to test and deploy code, as well as contributing towards new features and maintaining existing projects. It was a fast-paced environment that took a client's request from the design stage and saw it through development and into deployment - sometimes all in the same day. I often worked alongside Client Managers to determine our customers' needs; they interacted with the client, we agreed on a solution, and I helped build it.
