Financial Accounts Counselor

Responsibilities: Serve in a senior level staff position responsible for the establishment of policies and procedures for Financial Counselors and Patient Account Specialist. Work directly with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, insurance carriers and other external partners to assist patients in obtaining health care and financial services, and overall quality assurance and customer satisfaction. Interview, schedule, assign work to and evaluate the daily performance of a team of fifteen to thirty-five employees. Responsible for ensuring functional knowledge of all jobs in the department. Assist manager with training new staff, and annual performance reviews. Fulfill lead role in special projects. Provide feedback to staff on internal and/or external customer services.Accomplishments:* Personally manage accounts in excess of $1 million dollars. Closed 18/20 accounts resulting in $17.5 million dollars Gross Patient Revenue and $800,000 dollars Uncompensated Care.* Improved collections of co-pays in the Emergency Department by 90% and $480,000 in 2011.Other Proficiencies:Management, Supervisor, Team Leader, Critical Thinking, Administrative Duties, Team Training, Public Speaking, Insurance Verification, Case Studies and Research and Investigations, Collections (AR & AP), Monitoring and Interpreting EKG's and Cardiac Arrhythmia's, Relational Databases, Phlebotomy, Screening donation quality of Tissue, Long Bones, Eyes, Heart Valves, and Saphenous Veins for the OPO, Lifelink.
