Further, his behind-the-scenes efforts consistently made the lives of the whole development team easier and greatly improved our productivity by removing obstacles and slowdowns in our path, letting us get on with the job of product creation. Most impressively, he managed to keep it all fairly hidden to us, with these efforts only visible to the dev team when recapped in full organization meetings. From our perspective, slowdowns or tasks outside the direct scope of development usually just "disappeared" - such as the need to manage expectations with marketing, and various communication tasks outside the development team. We'd then later discover Julien took care of them for us. Julien is also an excellent developer, with extremely strong Java, Kotlin, and XML skills, and a wide breadth of knowledge spanning numerous other programming languages such as Javascript, Typescript, HTML, and CSS. He has a head for software architecture, particularly cross-platform design work - for example, he was able to create a single Java codebase serving as a vaccination rules engine for Android and iOS (through transpilation), with a flexible architecture that made it possible to later wrap that same code for usage in a web browser or Node.js server. He's also hilarious, and overall creates a fun, cooperative, free, and extremely productive work environment.
