About Justin Doak
Hi, I'm Justin, and I'm passionate about all things web and tech. This passion led me to leave my job as a 2nd grade teacher to begin an exciting career in software development. My entrance into the field came through General Assembly’s Web Development Immersive program, where I worked with the MEAN stack and Ruby on Rails to create vibrant web experiences. Since then, I've worked as a Software Engineer at both The Home Depot and Stable Kernel. I’m currently the Lead Web Engineer at Universe, working to make the building of the web accessible to all.I've always had a passion for taking things apart, discovering how they work, and figuring out how to fix them if necessary. This passion for tinkering has driven me to be a curious, resourceful, and problem-solving engineer. I love digging in to an application’s code and figuring out how it works. I may not know how to accomplish something right away, but I have the resources and the drive to find out. I will figure out how to do it, and how to do it right.My time as a teacher taught me to be creative, to work collaboratively, and to push myself. I employ these same values of communication, creativity, and determination in my software development career to ensure business stakeholders are pleased not only with the end product, but with the experience of the development process as a whole.
