Mitacs Elevate Post-Doctoral Fellow
As part of a collaborative effort between the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), the University of Western Ontario (UWO), and the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), research focused on the impact of metallic and nonmetallic impurities on the corrosion behaviour of cold spray copper coatings intended as the corrosion barrier of used nuclear fuel containers.

I also learned to operate and analyze data obtained from X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS), scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDS), and electron backscattered diffraction (EBSD). The research conducted during this time has been featured in several peer-reviewed publications and international conference presentations and has been recognized by several honours and awards. Visiting Researcher
During my time at Chimie ParisTech, I participated in two collaborative research projects. Working under the supervision of Dr. Kevin Ogle, research focused on the role of alloying elements in the passive oxide films formed on Ni-based alloys by atomic emission spectroelectrochemistry (AESEC). Here, I gained experience in combining inductively coupled plasma atomic emissions spectroscopy (ICP-AES) with traditional electrochemical measurements to obtain complimentary in situ corrosion… Show more During my time at Chimie ParisTech, I participated in two collaborative research projects. Working under the supervision of Dr. Philippe Marcus, research focused on the transport mechanisms during the oxidation of Ni-based alloys. Here, I explored the application of ultra low-pressure in situ time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) to analyze oxide growth mechanisms. Show less
Fourth Year Research Project
Under the supervision of Dr. Zhifeng Ding, my fourth-year research project focused on scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) with applications to live cells. During this project, I gained experience in conducting and analyzing data obtained from SECM as well as in simulating mass transport using COMSOL Multiphysics software.
