This involved leading a small team comprised of full-time, permanent and intern staff with requirement to report out details of work and impact on business areas to key internal stakeholders.Lead responsibility for technical collaborations with numerous customers including interfaces inside and outside the EU. This involved face to face interactions, lab demonstration of new concepts and technical problem solving as well as strategic introduction of new products and product lines. I was a primarily lab-based chemist working on new materials for future display areas. Main focuses were polymeric and hybrid organic-inorganic materials. During this time a large amount of IP was generated strategically to support this future potential business. A large number of materials from this work were sampled to customers and assessed positively by them.I liaised with and lead some interactions with internal and external partners. For example, internal groups on different geographical sites, post-doc scientists at UK universities, CASE students etc. This dispersed group was mostly in different UK locations and Germany.

I worked as a welfare team tutor at Opal Gardens hall at the University of Manchester on the Victoria Park Campus. This role was designed to support the running of the hall and welfare of the students who lived in the hall and wider campus as required. This included for example looking after students who had to visit hospital due to emergencies, supporting the other hall functions such as admin and social teams. There were required office duties during this time where students could come with questions and problems. During this time I also undertook some proactive fund raising activities which included the other halls at the university to raise money for children in need.

I gained experience during this time in hetero and homo phase free radical polymerisation. I developed valuable skills in time management to complete my studies by day release whilst working a 4-day week.
