I am exploratory in my learning and love to understand how things work. I enjoy being inventive to solve problems or drive outcomes. I am interested in internships that allow me to combine my creative mindset and analytical skills with my multi-cultural background and learn by doing. While my academic achievements speak to my abilities as a student, what distinguishes me are my personal projects utilizing self-taught skills and endless curiosity. My intense mechanical interest has led to refurbishing vintage (1940’s – 1970’s) outboard boat engines to like-new condition. My interest in woodworking resulted in designing and building a multi drawer wood chest with an intricate in-laid design. I have also assembled go-cart and lawn mower motors, built fountains and made homemade sluice boxes to find gold/mineral rocks. I am of Latino Heritage and fluent in Spanish and English. My travels to Spain, the Caribbean Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and over 18 states have allowed me to interact with various cultures and people. I have gained a appreciation and respect for the value diversity of thought, background, gender and experiences brings and the opportunities it creates to learn, create better outcomes, and have fun. Athletics has also been an important part of my life beginning with Little League, AAU and high school baseball, college rugby and more recently a dedicated weightlifting/nutritional program. As a baseball captain and team leader I learned the importance of leadership and teamwork. Playing college rugby for a small college in N.C. taught me how to be tough in challenging times while playing much larger schools like Duke and N.C. State. And weightlifting and nutrition have required a dedicated and disciplined approach to fitness and health. Through sports, I learned the importance of having a unifying voice to excite and incent individuals to reach their personal best.
