➤ September 2016 – Present: Member of the Board of AdvisorsOur six-person committee, consisting of former board members, provides solicited and unsolicited advice to the board of Study Association Cover.➤ January 2016 – June 2016: Secretary of the Parent Day CommitteeOur four-person committee organized the parent day of Study Association Cover. Besides general organizational tasks, I was responsible for taking minutes during committee meetings. During the day family members of students could learn more about our studies and association. The program included talks by teachers and students, a workshop, a tour, drinks, and a barbecue.➤ December 2014 – September 2015: General Member of the Committee of External AffairsOur six-person committee, led by the association’s Commissioner of External Affairs, established cooperations between companies and Study Association Cover. I was responsible for contacting companies and negotiating on cooperation agreements.➤ October 2014 – September 2015: Treasurer of the Symposium CommitteeOur six-person committee organized the yearly one-day symposium of Study Association Cover. Besides general organizational tasks, I was responsible for the committee’s treasury and speaker/business contacts.The theme of the symposium was ‘Interconnected’. The program included talks and a workshop from several companies and start-ups, a lunch, and drinks. The talks and workshop focussed on the possibilities, challenges, and effects of using and combining devices and data via the internet.Participating companies: IBM Netherlands (Healthcare & Life Sciences department); KPN Consulting (Internet of Everything and Big Data departments); Jibes (data specialist); Target Holding (data intelligence specialist); and Athom (creators of home-automation device Homey).

Our five-person board was responsible for running Cover, the study association for Artificial Intelligence and Computing Science at the University of Groningen. Cover provides educational support, substantive broadening, career orientation, and social activities for ~500 Bachelor, Master, and PhD students. As board we organized activities, directed a number of committees, and kept in touch with external parties. As chairman I was responsible for keeping the board running.
