Data scientist in the Analytics Tools Group, Viasat's centralized data team, where my responsibilities included:- Product analytics - collaborate with product to understand market fit, and drive strategy.- Leveraging scientific / numerical methods - simulations and optimization.- Leveraging ML algorithms (clustering, anomaly detection), working in a petabyte-level data lake.- Data engineering - author and automate data pipelines (Python, PySpark, SQL, Kubernetes) to process billions of records per hour to curate metrics, models, and dashboards from data streams throughout the company.- Providing theoretical and project-level guidance to junior data scientists; avid code reviewer.- Developing and distributing internal tools (internally published Python packages) to dynamically generate automation, generate data source metadata, and automatically detect and fix data quality issues.

I combined Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics, stellar evolution, and N-body simulations to study instabilities in closely packed planetary systems, and the subsequent planet-planet collisions. My dissertation focuses on the outcomes of grazing impacts between sub-Neptune planets, and provides prescriptions for predicting and modeling the changes in mass and orbits following collisions for general use in dynamical integrators.
