Being a 2019行动派 (graduate programme), I am based in the department of operations management. My responsibilities as follow:Analyse monthly financial and business information;Study industrial news and policy to conduct monthly industrial insights reports;Attend monthly affiliate companies business meetings, report the critical inquiries of operational issues and improve business connections, to support the affiliates business improve in a better way; Daily assist company’s CEO and responsible on doing his presentation slides;

• Led a group of 5 to design the new laboratory building of Sir Henry Royce Institute at the University of Manchester (£235m real-life project), managed to deliver the project before hand-in schedule • Investigated the client’s requirement and site area, summarised into 50 pages report with detailed constraints to support next stage of design• Explored the possibilities of structural design, formulated the positive and negative for each conceptual design, collaborated with my colleagues and discussed the 9 conceptual designs to develop final design • Calculated the potential flooding events and rain intensity of the project site, to design drainage system for at least 50 years lifetime by meeting the British Standard regulations• Produced 260 pages final report including project background, design development, detailed design with calculations, project management and detailed structural drawings in AutoCAD• Presented as a group in 15 minutes to briefly explain the idea of design and how to implement the construction via 3D step by step drawings shown in PowerPointAchieved 71%

Working as a Summer Student within the Site Development at Arup, I assisted in working towards holistic and sustainable infrastructure solutions including utility and energy strategy, peak demand estimation, drainage strategy and design, flood risk assessments and environmental impact assessments.• Participated in 10 development projects, including £300m Manchester Engineering Campus Development (MECD)• Supported the site background investigation by data analysis of utilities demands in over 10 Excel spreadsheets • Communicated with 8 utilities’ companies and city council by daily phone calls and emails, to provide the summary of existing services in MECD via master drawings within 2 weeks • Assisted in the flood risk assessment, environmental impact assessment and 500+ pages of demolition impact assessment, enhanced verbal written and communication skills

- Communicating and supporting the group of lower year students in finding solutions to their problems themselves, through facilitated discussion and guided questioning. - Organising fun games and preparing presentations related to the course with my PASS co-leaders, i.e. paper tower challenge, ‘survival guide’ in University.

- Organising holiday trips around the UK for Chinese students to get immersed in British cultures and get used to living and studying in the UK.- As a leader, I have challenged myself and my team to organise holiday trips without co-operating with travel agents in order to minimise the cost but maximise the quality of our trips. - Delivered and organised a number of trips to Scotland and Wales that were highly popular and resulted in an increased demand for our trips.- Established excellent rapport with Chinese students.- Sharing travel experience when we introduced holiday trips and answering students’ enquiries patiently, this is enhancing my communication skills.- Confident in dealing with unpredictable situations and negotiating with the group.
