Jia Lee is a UK-based Malaysian composer and sound designer whose work spans across films, documentaries, arts, installations and solo releases. She joined Engrave Production Music in 2020, a music production studio, where she has contributed numerous music pieces to a vast array of music catalogue. She then Co-Founded and launched the music production label, Pitch Eminence, with the Director of Engrave Production Music, Rafael Abranches, a modern electronic music label focussing on an auteur approach to music and sonic explorations. 2021 saw the label’s breakthrough album Introversion and Arc of Sense on Warner Chappell Production Music and BMG Production Music. Going forward into 2023, Jia has celebrated her continuous partnership with Rafael Abranches with their release of Arc of Sense, Kindling and Beats for Daydreaming. In the same year, Jia has also worked with Vine Music Studio on various commercial advertisements and trailers projects, including an advertisement for Lazada 9.9. ​Jia’s first feature documentary work was written as assistant composer to De Luca Brother's for National Geographic's documentaries including When Sharks Attack (Season 8) and Shark Side of the Moon, broadcasted internationally during the Sharkfest 2022 and 2023 event.In 2019, Jia launch a brand new project - Serene and I - a boutique music studio specialised in crafting therapeutic soundscapes for holistic audio branding, such as meditation and yoga, tailored for the health and well-being industry. ​Jia’s recent composition projects includes ‘Insert Yourself’, a site-specific installation in collaboration with sculptor artist, Nicola Dale, at PINK Manchester; 'Keeping Company', a site-specific installation in collaboration with artist, Alana Lake, at 70 Oxford Road, Manchester Metropolitan University. Her musical work for 'Keeping Company' was selected for the group exhibition at MUSLAB Planeta Complejo, Anthropological Museum of Contemporary Art, taken place in October 2023 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Outside of her music studio, Jia enjoys spending her time visiting art galleries and museum, travelling to new places, and engaging in outdoor activities.
