Main Responsibilities/Tasks:Planning of the audit:Risk assessment by means of financial statement analytical reviewsDocumenting outcome of risk assessment Obtaining knowledge of the business by interviewing client staffObtaining an understanding of systems & internal controls by means of questioning and observationDeveloping an overall audit strategy based on risk assessment performedDeveloping audit plans to obtain sufficient audit assurance that the financials are not materially misstatedDetermination of possible fraud & error risk by means of questioning, observation & other audit workAuditing of all financial statement areas:Balance sheetIncome statementEquity itemsDrafting of correcting journal entries (general journals) when errors has been found.Supervision & assisting of staff during audit.On finalisation of audit, advising clients on problem areas observed during the audit,& giving of recommendations to avoid similar errors/problems in future.TaxationTesting all tax entries by means of inspecting/reperforming tax calculations &Supporting documentationAssistance with tax calculation & drafting of correcting entries if errors were foundTimely submissions of legislative requirements on monthly basis (VAT, PAYE)Drafting of Annual Financial StatementsComparison of figures per trial balance, to figures disclosed in AFSInspection that accounting policies is applied as stated in the AFSInspection that notes to the AFS is correct & completeDraft, present and discuss Annual Financial Statements with Clients.General dutiesScheduling & attendance of meetings with clients & stocktakesConsulting with managers & partners on work progress & client issuesGuiding of junior staff members - explaining how & why certain procedures has to be performed, & by giving examples of working papers.Perform Monthly accounting work at specific clients.
