I am presently a research fellow in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (NTU), where I received my Ph.D. degree in Structural engineering in 2012. I was born in Zhejiang province, located in southeast of China near Shanghai city. I received my BS degree in Civil Engineering and MS degree in Geotechnical engineering from China University of Geoscience in Beijing in 2001 and 2005, respectively. My main research interest is in structures and mechanics with applications to tubular structures, construction and offshore structures. The research topics include understanding and prediction of stress concentration factor (SCF) and hot spot stress (HSS) at joint, fatigue performance of the tubular joint under cyclic loading, the application of new materials in structures, buckling behaviour of box column and nonlinear soil-structure interactions for offshore spudcans. My research can be categorized as structural engineering with aspects of tubular structures and material studies, numerical analysis and hollow section joint directed at applications from various physical sciences. My research topic also covers the fabrication procedure of the structure, such as the impact of the welding and residual stress on the structure behaviour. With continuous rapid development of computing platform and software, I believe that advances in FE modelling with applications to steel structure and marine structure. In the future, I foresee continuing my present work, especially in the application of new material like higher strength steel and aluminium on the construction, and developing new research areas, especially in the steel and concrete structure. In addition, I would like to couple advanced for the welding procedure for the high strength steel and the control for the crack in the high strength steel structure.
