I am a scientist, inventor, and entrepreneur. As a scientist, I am interested in developing “the ultimate diagnostic”. Using multiplex PCR to amplify immune repertoire (T and B cell receptors) for NextGen sequencing, we identify disease-specific biomarkers, evaluate vaccines, and develop new therapeutics. As an inventor, I developed the award-winning tem-PCR technology that makes molecular differential diagnosis possible. The tem-PCR technology is a highly specific and sensitive multiplex PCR technology that also can be automated. We have now developed two multiplex methods called arm-PCR (amplicon rescued multiplex PCR) and dam-PCR (dimmer avoided multiplex PCR) for highly efficient, quantitative, and automated multiplex PCR.As an entrepreneur, I founded Genaco in 1996 and grew it into a successful molecular diagnostic company. Qiagen acquired Genaco in 2006. I was also a co-founder of Diatherix, a CLIA-certified lab providing diagnostic services for infectious diseases. Eurofins acquired Diatherix in 2015. Both Genaco and Diatherix were using the tem-PCR technology. In 2009, I started two more companies, iCubate and iRepertoire, to commercialize arm-PCR and dam-PCR-based applications.
