Business Problem: Leveraging a machine learning model to classify vegetation types—forest, grassland, and others—using dynamic Sentinel-2 satellite imagery.• Sentinel-2 hub satellite imagery, which provides comprehensive details across 12 distinct bands for each image.• A collection of existing vegetation maps for cross-validation, including the 2017 Guy Carpenter vegetation map, the Topo 250k vegetation map, data from the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry• Leveraged QGIS software for dataset visualization, spatial transformations, manual area labelling, and geo file format conversions.• Utilized Python to extract pixel-level data from raw geo imagery, retrieve labelled geo tiff data, and construct machine learning training pipeline with visual outputs.Achievements:• Successfully developed a robust pipeline that transforms satellite imagery data into pixel-level information, which is crucial for constructing a comprehensive training dataset. The pipeline has processed over 100 images and extracted over 100 million pixels’ information.• Developed and trained a pixel-level multiclass classification model using Light GBM and Optuna framework, specifically tailored to classify vegetation types such as forest, grassland, and others, based on real-time satelliteimagery. The model Achieved an accuracy of approximately 88% and an F2 score of around 0.9.• The model consistently outperformed the 2017 Guy Carpenter vegetation map data by significant margins, achieving as high as a 40% improvement in some ambiguous areas.

Research on how can an intelligent 3D shape generation and assessment tool contribute to first-year engineering students’ special abilities. Carried out a research project with a sample size of over 500 students. Developed a new shape auto-generating algorithm under the idea of wave function collapse. Constructed a website for more than 500 students to practise engineering-drawing questions which also adapted the new algorithm that teachers could use to easily generate quiz questions. Created a new effective and controllable workflow of 3D shape auto-generation using JSON file type. Adapted gamification elements to the new website for educational purposes.Achievements includes:• The newly developed algorithm is proven to be statistically effective in auto-generating 3D shapes of distinguishing difficulties.• The new website was improved to be 53% faster in the 3D shape auto-generation process than previously.• The new system was accepted by the department and would be used as a teaching tool for future engineering students with an estimated capacity of 500 students per year.

Trained 5 new interns to quickly integrate them into the development stage of the company. Led a development team of 3 for an Android app development project. Redeveloped the user interface of an outsourced mobile app, Pincou, using JavaScript, CSS and HTML.Achievements include:• The driver-side food delivery app was used by over 100 deliveries.• The social app Uni acquired over 50 users in the first week.• Applied Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery into the development workflow resulting in 20% faster for mobile app version iterations.
