About Jie Yang
My research interests are strategic management, organization theory, and international management. My PhD dissertation investigates the strategy issues involving product categorization, which is defined as the process through which producers, market intermediaries, and audiences reach consensus on the categories of a product. I collected a vast amount of data from online film databases (IMDb, TMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, etc.) and applied various econometric and computational techniques in the empirical analysis. Aside from my PhD dissertation, my inquiries in international management field include film internationalization, emerging market MNEs, and location choice of firms under environmental uncertainties.
