1. Synthesizing electrochemically attractive materials and developing synthetic approach-As a synthetic chemist, my research interest aims on developing novel electrochemically attractive materials. On the basis of synthesis experiences including organic synthesis, solution-based nanoparticle synthesis, solid-state synthesis, soft/hard-template-assisted porous material synthesis, and thin-film fabrication, I seek for development of materials with controlled properties in terms of nanostructure, composition, porosity, conductivity, and/or optical response. Also, I have interest on investigating how and why such materials can be synthesized. Based on the implications from this research, I seek to develop more efficient and facile ways of synthesizing materials.2. Application of the synthesized materials to energy harvesting/storage system-My research interest also includes application of the developed materials to energy harvesting/storage system. More specifically, developing anode materials of Li-ion battery; transparent conductive electrodes based on metal nanowires; and light harvesting materials for thin-film photovoltaic devices are on-going projects. Fabrication of electrochemical cells and assessments electrochemical properties can be routinely implemented by myself. 3. Specific experimental and characterization experiences-Synthesis of various nanomaterials (silica nanoparticle, mesoporous silica, mesoporous carbonaceous nanoparticle, iron oxide nanoparticle, core-shell or hollow shaped nanoparticle etc.); Surface modification of nanoparticles with organic ligands; Magnesiothermic reduction based synthesis of silicon/carbon composite material; Fabrication and electrochemical assessment of Li-ion battery (coin-cell); Synthesis of organometal halide perovskite and double-perovskite; Synthesis of 2-dimensional perovskite materials; Fabrication and characterization of thin-film photovoltaic device; Fabrication of electrodes with metal nanowires.
