About Jill Beth Jacoby, Ph.D.
I have multiple strengths with knowledge developed over thirty years of experience in non-profit executive leadership, college and university teaching, and natural resources work. I have experience developing educational curriculum and methodologies and have developed and executed training programs for educators. My strengths are focused in water education and resources, environmental conservation, sustainability, climate change and social change. My Ph.D focused on collaborative leadership and water resource decision making using Participatory Action Research and Study Circles. I have been an innovator and contributor to the fields of service learning and environmental education and have authored publications in the areas of leadership for environmental sustainability, action research, and creative arts research.Things that bring me joy include playing with my dog in water, doing restoration work on my ten acres, including removing invasive species and planting native plants, and growing food including shiitake mushrooms.I very much enjoy teaching youth and young adults about nature and inspiring them to develop a connection with the Earths' nonhuman inhabitants. The work that has best exemplified my creativity, talents, and management skills include developing the St Louis River Watch program for high schools in the watershed, and designing a stormwater wetland while merging art and aquatic sciences to educate the public about the ecosystem functions of wetlands.
