4Th Grade Teacher
Current Established partnership with local organizations to provide students real-world experiences in sustaining and improving their local community; designed weekly science lessons at a nearby public park and creek to test water quality and practice environmental stewardship. Supplemented district mandated curriculum with hands-on instructional resources and performance-based assessments related to students’ interests, backgrounds, needs and abilities. Developed students’ analytical and critical thinking skills through challenging problem-based learning tasks to promote independence and generate confidence. Engaged students through interactive lessons, technology integration, cooperative learning activities, and cross-curricular learning experiences. Evaluated students’ understandings and progress toward learning goals with a variety of formative and summative assessments; achieved a minimum of 70% student growth in math and language arts on end of year testing each year. Collaborated frequently with the 4th grade team, curriculum coaches, principal, students, and parents to reflect on instructional practices and student progress.
