What lights me up is hearing a friend say “I feel so good about myself when I eat like this!” after delivering a delicious bowl of locally grown, vitamin-packed leafy greens for lunch. It’s a feeling I want more people to experience and have access to. When I learned that farmers today need to grow 70% more fruits and veggies for the world to be able to consume a nutrient rich diet, it propelled me into action. As a result, Superbloom Farms was born, growing 1.5 acres worth of farmland in each recycled shipping container, in the heart of Grand Rapids. I believe that every community can benefit from locally grown, fresh, leafy greens 365 days/year. The presence of urban farms creates employment opportunities and education around healthy eating and alternative farming methods for the surrounding neighborhood. I am excited to use the lessons I’ve learned from 20 years in leadership, sales and marketing positions to bring MORE vitamin rich greens to my community!
