Hello!I am an active, outdoorsy person with an eye for detail and an enquiring mind. I have always loved nature and the outdoors and this led me to formally train as a Marine Biologist. I was fortunate to have worked in this field for five years. During this time I was involved in a number of different research projects as well as assisting with the management of junior staff and students, and facilitating the general running of research facilities. As well as the outdoors, I have a great interest in the people and places around me, and in sharing my experiences with others. I have worked in both the Education and Tourism sectors, and enjoy using my skills in photography, videography and writing to create content for various travel publications as well as self-published travel and human interest blogs.I am a creative but structured person, a strategic thinker who can easily find a solution to a problem. I have strong communication and interpersonal skills and work well with a diverse range of people. In a team I am a natural leader who is able to amplify the strengths of the others around me. I enjoy variety in my work and am always challenging myself to learn new things and improve upon the status quo. I am a mature, responsible and friendly individual who would add value to any team.

Initially focusing on travel within South Africa, it has expanded to include a variety of locations in Asia and the Indo-Pacific islands, as well as travel how-to's and outdoor adventure guides. Working as one member of a two-man team has required me to be involved in every aspect of content production, right from trip planning and logistics, to filming, photographing and writing the final piece of content. As a side benefit I have had a number of travel feature articles published by local and international media, and working in this role has, of course, given me a great excuse to get outdoors! -

Students with no English ability were taught exclusively in English, which required me to present the material in a creative and engaging manner. It also meant that I needed to find ways to connect and communicate with my students despite the language barrier. I loved the opportunity to meet this challenge, to engage with my learners and have them grow and flourish under my care.During this time, I was also involved in a number of teacher training programmes with international English students from National Dong Hwa University (Hualien, Taiwan).

I assisted the Senior Scientist, Ms. Fiona MacKay, in a number of areas including estuarine and marine macrobenthic field collections, microscopy and management of a macrobenthic taxonomy database. I also assisted in data analysis and generating scientific reports, as well as in the day-to-day activities of a small team of laboratory staff and university MSc candidates.
