Biographical snapshot:Jill earned her Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language Education from the University of Georgia. While teaching in public and private secondary schools, she completed a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Georgia Southern University and later initiated her doctoral studies at the University of Florida, earning an Executive Certification in Community College Leadership. After moving to Nashville, she completed her Ph.D. in Public Administration at Tennessee State University’s Institute of Government in the College of Public Service and Urban Affairs. Since coming to MNPS, Dr. Pittman has served as an Executive Principal for middle and high schools, leading International Baccalaureate and Cambridge Programmes. Jill’s professional distinctions include two Senate appointments to Florida's Charter School Advisory Panel, delegate to The College Board's Bridge to China program, and Stand for Children's State Task Force on Teacher and Principal Quality. She previously served on the Mayor's Special Education Advisory Council and attended Harvard University's Urban School Leaders Institute in 2010. Jill is an alumna of Leadership Nashville's Class of 2012 and was named Administrator of the Year for Professional Educators of Tennessee in 2014. Dr. Pittman was selected as one of thirty principals to serve as an America Achieves Fellow in 2015. She currently served on the Advisory Board for the Tennessee World Affairs Council, Nashville’s Music Makes Us Advisory Board, and is a Collaborative Fellow with the National Career Academy Coalition. Jill is the Academies of Nashville Executive Principal of the Year for 2018. After 20+ years of school leadership, Jill relocated to the Low Country of South Carolina and works as a School Transformation Specialist.
