Jill has worked in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector for over 20 years. Since June 2000 Jill has been heading up the Western Australian Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (WANADA), the peak body for AOD education, prevention, treatment and support services located throughout Western Australia. Through this role Jill has been able to contribute to a number of significant developments in the WA AOD sector. Jill is passionate about supporting non-government/not-for-profit service provision. Her focus in the AOD sector has been on enhancing systemic quality processes; strategies that promote equitable access to services by marginalised peoples and social inclusion; and ensuring the viability of a diverse range of community services. In 2004 Jill took a six months secondment to the Western Australian Drug and Alcohol Office to develop the WA AOD Sector Quality Framework. This Framework is now a registered Standard for the AOD sector services. In 2008 she took 12 months leave from WANADA, contracted by the Australasian Therapeutic Communities Association to develop a quality process for therapeutic communities in Australia and New Zealand. Jill’s professional training is as an anthropologist, graduating with first class honors from the University of Western Australia with a thesis on women and drug use.
