Former civil servant now at UK in a Changing Europe but still doing some stuff for Institute for Government where I worked 2009-2019. Have worked at Defra, Treasury and No.10. Also worked at BP and the Advocacy Institute in Washington DC. Interests.. civil service, Brexit, better policy and general doing govt better. Big achievements include 2005 UK Sustainable Development strategy (still nominally in force) as well as convincing ministers to use tax policy to achieve wider social/environmental objectives. Worked in the US, Spain and Germany though most of the time within walking distance of Parliament. Love chairing events, talking on panels, doing radio and writing.
