Part of the new role included chairing in-house planning meeting/discussions with other RAC consultants to explore and expand knowledge base and ensure consistency of approach in relation to assessment of rural planning applications.Jill was successful in tendering for two contracts for ongoing works; a 3 year contract with a local planning authority to provide advice in relation to rural planning applications; and in relation a FEZ project within a National Park which sought to achieve support for a specific farming sector within the Park. Jill was also jointly responsible for developing marketing opportunities through networking and the updating of the website, concentrating on the need to increase the profile of the company and, therefore, to increase work opportunities. She is retained as the agricultural advisor to seven local planning authorities in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Kent and West Sussex and is regularly consulted on planning applications for agricultural developments by these authorities and by numerous others across the country on an ad-hoc basis. She currently provides training courses to local planning authorities on the assessment of buildings permitted under the General Permitted Development Order (1995). Traditional Livestock FarmerChristmas Farm Jun 1997 - Jan 2008Christmas Farm was a traditional mixed livestock farm and Jill was the co-proprietor of the enterprise. The business was focused on farming traditional breeds of livestock including Longhorn beef, Jacob and Welsh Black sheep, Norfolk Black Turkeys, Saddleback pigs and also reared ducks, chickens and geese from day olds. A flock of free range hens were also part of the enterprise.All stock was reared through to finished weights on the farm and then sold directly to the consumer through an on-farm shop.
