As part of a North America wide EHS team supporting Malthouses and warehouses at various locations, the Canada Malting EHS BP is responsible for coaching and managing the EHS requirements at 3 Canadian Malt House sites as well as 9 Country Grain Elevators throughout the prairie provinces. Through developing positive relationships with the Malt and Elevator management groups, the NA EHS BP implements and fosters the United Malt safety philosophy while maintaining the required ISO 45001 & 14001 standards. Work directly with the NA EHS counterparts as well as EHS team members across the UK, Europe and Australia to enhance the knowledge and safety culture of United Malt's facilities worldwide.

Work with clients to develop safety management systems that align with the organizational and corporate culture. This includes developing customized safety management systems and revising existing safety management systems to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, assist companies in the recruiting and selection of specialized positions, developing and facilitating customized training courses, and helping companies to either obtain or maintain their COR.

Development and maintenance of the company's human resources, health & safety and quality management systems for subsidiaries and partnerships across Western, Maritime and Northern Canada. Working with mine sites, construction sites, retail sites and oil and gas sites to ensure compliance with local, provincial, territorial and federal legislation and industry requirements. Management of the company's worker's compensation and return to work programs. Responsible for supervising site HSE Advisors at remote site locations to ensure proper tracking and reporting associated with the quality, health and safety management systems. Manage employee onboarding processes across various jurisdictions. Participate in recruiting and selection drives and liaise with Operations group to ensure that staffing deliverables are met in a timely manner.

Work closely with a number of clients in upstream oil and gas to ensure their safety management and human resources management systems are COR compliant, legally sound, and effective for the organizational culture. This includes creating and revising policies and procedures and assisting companies in implementing new strategies through communication, training and development.

Responsible for daily contractor management safety initiatives for MEG Energy's Completions Division. Engage contractor employees in safety culture, manage documentation of various service rigs and associated services, provide H&S support to both the DCL business unit and contractor companies, complete incident investigations when required, assist the H&S Lead in MEG safety initiatives and programs.

Manage a behavior based safety management system in accordance with western Canadian OHS requirements. Arrange for pre-qualifications and audits of survey, slashing/mulching, drilling and recording contractors. Recruiting of workers, training workers and staffing field crews. Keep statistics on turnover rates current, manage expiration of employee tickets and arrange for recertification, responsible for arranging housing for out of province workers. Ensure compliance with provincial and federal legislation for labour and occupational health and safety, ensure industry standards for hiring practices and safety orientations are being utilized. Provide field support and coordinate with field safety in implementing evolving safety initiatives. Maintain statistics of injury, near miss, incident and general loss trends including analysis of leading and lagging indicators. Develop training and safety programs relevant to seismic exploration. Manage WCB claims in BC, SK, and AB. Conduct internal COR maintenance certification audits.

Working with the University and international corporations to develop and instruct training programs for ESL students in the study of North American Safety and Human Resources practices (such as rights and responsibilities, due diligence, causal analysis techniques and compensation issues).

Advise membership of new HR protocols and practices; participate in industry meetings regarding training, wages and retention. Work closely with the Petroleum Human Resources Council of Canada on occupational profiling, skills testing and training requirements for upstream oil and gas workers. Work closely with other associations on IRP 16 initiatives, Alcohol and Drug Policy model, participate in DACUM’s.
