I've been working at sea from a very young age- started commercial fishing with my father then moved on to the party boats. I was lucky to get the chance to sail around the world on a couple of square riggers for high school. That experience was the basis of my choice to stick with seafaring and work my way up to earn an unlimited tonnage masters license. I moved to Texas right after high school to attend the Ocean Marine Technology program at Brazosport College and was trained for AB/QMED. From there, I worked my way up the hawsepipe in the Gulf of Mexico offshore oil fields- crew boats, supply boats, etc. I left to upgrade my license on the larger deep sea ships and sailed on tankers for the next 13 years.I came back to the oil field in 2000 and started sailing as DPO. I've been working with DP ever since. I've spent many years with various crewing agencies which gives me lots of experience with different vessels all over the world- drill ships, semi submersibles, construction vessels, pipe layers, dive vessels, heavy lifts, etc.Lately, I've started branching out- teaching part time (maritime) when I can't get to sea and working with more creative pursuits: writing, photography, painting. I've kept my blog going for a few years and published a few articles. Won a couple of prizes with my paintings and photos. Writing a book and hoping to publish it soon.
