I have been serving Preschool age to elementary aged bilingual speech, language and hearing impaired students this past year in Santa Cruz county, CA. with a caseload of 50-55 students. I love my job working to improve children's ability to self advocate and communicate basic human needs (understand, produce understandable speech, converse, and feel confident speaking without fear). I enjoy helping individuals and families connect and communicate with each other; academia and then with their community. The current demands that are placed upon school children to perform and compete in schools now are more critical than ever. Basic communication skills such as listening, speaking and asking questions. Treatment of the onsite SLP as a valued member of a Special education team is what I am looking for in my next place of employment. When I go to my place of work these are my core values I bring to the table. I have been in this profession since 1988 where I finished my clinical services credential at San Diego State University, earned my Masters degree in 1993 and completed my CCC. My master's project was in conjunction with Dr. Lily-Li Rong Cheng,SLP professor at SDSU on "Effective elicitation techniques for Language samples of bilingual children", case studies were done in Watsonville, CA. in 1989. After 27years I have not lost my passion for the profession of working with children with communicative disorders.
